April is stress awareness month

Posted by Admin on 12th April 2019

Managing stress and prioritising your well-being can do wonders for your focus, productivity and happiness.

The average person has about 60,000 thoughts in a day (exhausting if you think about it!). No wonder there is a need for stress awareness.

Creative activities of any kind can help focus the mind and have even been compared to meditation due to their calming effects on the brain and body. Even just gardening or sewing releases dopamine, a natural anti-depressant.

The main causes of stress

We all know that work can often be one of the main causes of stress. So when it comes to business, the key is to have a plan! Avoid stressful situations by planning ahead, scheduling important tasks in advance and making notes or lists of anything that‘s on your mind to offload. Ticking off that list can be a great coping mechanism!

Whilst it‘s important to focus on the tasks or projects we‘re working on, it‘s equally important to take a break and find time to enjoy the things that help us to relax.

Creativity reduces stress

At Visual Identity, we‘re lucky to have the MK Gallery close by, a great place to visit for inspiration and relaxation (especially as we’re all Art geeks!).

Understanding stress awareness

Creativity reduces anxiety, depression, and stress, and it can also help you process trauma. Studies have found that writing helps people manage their negative emotions in a productive way, and painting or drawing helps people express feelings or experiences that they find too difficult to put into words.
